History

1961 - The current Mississauga IceDogs AAA Hockey Club began life back in 1961 when they were know as the Mississauga Reps although the name was not officially adopted until 1968. In 1961 the Toronto Township Reps entered the TTHL - Toronto Township Hockey League with a total of five teams but with with future NHLers in their line-up such as Ron Ellis, Fred and Jack Stanfield the teams would withdraw when the playoffs began so they could enter the more competitve Clancy Series which was run by the Toronto Hockey League. Soon a decision was made to leave the TTHL to play all of their games in the stronger THL.

1963 - The Toronto Township Reps, sponsored by Jaffa-King Oranges, make their first appearance in the Quebec International Peewee Tournament.

1964 - The Reps began the First Annual Paperweight Tournament which today is known as the Annual Spring Tournament for Minor Novice to Atom House League, Select, A, AA and AAA teams.

1965 - The first Mississauga Rep Tyke Team was entered in the THL bringing the number of competitve teams up to six.

1971 - Len Barrett became President of the Club and under his guidance the Reps expanded to a total of fifteen teams. The original six teams were reclassifed from "A" to "AA" while the new nine teams, Tyke to Juvenile played as "A" teams.

1974 - Howard Pallette, President of the Dixie Beehives, the Reps "class affiliate" team since 1968 gave his Midget and Juvenile "AA" teams to the Reps who could now boast a full compliment of "AA" teams from Tyke through Juvenile.

1980 - The MTHL reclassifed many "AA" teams and began a Major division which the Reps were part of.

1982 - The Reps, who had been running both "AA" and Major teams, decided to drop the "AA" teams because of operating costs which led to the birth of the Mississauga Braves Hockey Club.

2004 - The name of the organization was changed to the Mississauga IceDogs AAA Hockey Club.

2005 - We finished as the second best over-all Club in the GTHL. Our Minor Bantam team won the Promitere Cup and the City Championship for the second straight year. We had three players drafted into the Ontario Hockey League off our Minor Midget team - Kevin Hudes to the Windsor Spitfires in the 4th Round; Grant McGee to the Soo Greyhounds; and Myles Barbieri to the Kitchener Rangers

2006 - We finished as the fourth best Club in the GTHL. We moved our home rink from Ice Gardens to Westwood Arena to be more centrally located. Our Shanahan Tournament sold out for the first time ever with just over 100 of the best AAA teams from across North America. In December our Minor Midget team was ranked number one in North America. In April we hosted the OHF Bantam Provincial Championships with our Bantam team winning the Gold medal. The Bantam team also won the Promitere Cup and the City Championship for the third stright year. Our 42nd Annual Spring tournament was a huge success for our Club with a total of 112 teams. Tyler Cuma became our higest OHL draft pick when he was drafted 6th overall by the Ottawa 67's. A total of 7 players were drafted off our Minor Midget team making it our most successful OHL draft.
